Habitat Range and Status
In Europe, United States and parts of Canada the Grizzly bear habitat today is often restricted to mountainous regions since the rest of the land used by humans. Due to human activity the Grizzly bear habitat has reduced greatly as it used to range over vast areas of Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. Their habitat range is shrinking as the population of humans is increasing along with the land they occupy. In general the Grizzly’s habitat can range from dense forests to alpine meadow or the arctic tundra. Due to their very wide range of habitats they have the widest distribution of any species. The Grizzly bear can be found in western Canada to as far as the eastern boundary of Manitoba Grizzly bears usually tend to live along rivers and coastal areas.
Grizzly Bear Habitat Range around the world.
Status:Threatened
Reasons for this status: habitat loss, damage, and fragmentation; the cascading effects of salmon collapse and climate change; and human-caused mortalities as a result of sport hunting, poaching, collisions with trains and vehicles, and the inevitable challenges grizzlies endure because of careless human behavior.
